Product Description

Osculati Douglas Marine Silenced Spring is a mooring line tension damper/mooring bumper designed for installation in the mooring line between the vessel and the quay or buoy, engineered to significantly reduce jerks and noise during mooring operations caused by waves, tidal changes, and wind gusts. The “silenced spring” design is based on a progressively working elastic element that absorbs dynamic energy and limits stroke, protecting cleats, bollards, deck eyes, and the mooring line itself, while simultaneously eliminating the metallic noises typical of traditional springs. The 90x480 model is a variant with a larger body diameter and extended working stroke, selected for medium and larger recreational vessels where a higher damping reserve is required. Installation is simple: the damper is connected in series with the mooring line using appropriate shackles or bindings depending on the rope/chain ends, maintaining axial alignment and preventing twisting; periodic inspection of the elastic element and fittings is recommended. The product is used in marinas, inland and sea ports, at berths with residual wave motion, and on mooring buoys; it is suitable for bow and stern moorings as well as springs, reducing overloads and improving mooring comfort. The Osculati-branded version is produced in cooperation with Douglas Marine, a specialist in spring-type mooring accessories, ensuring compatibility with sailing and motorboat rigging as well as high operational quality and durability in marine conditions.
