Product description SA70 AIS SART:
The SA70 AIS-SART device has been developed by Simrad in accordance with the rules and regulations for use on ships and liferafts in the marine service. The SA70 AIS-SART meets the specifications for use in search and rescue operations at sea.The operating range of the SA70 AIS-SART is 7-10 nautical miles from a Class A shipboard AIS system and more than 40 nautical miles from a shipboard AIS receiver.
The SA70 AIS-SART is buoyant, but for maximum performance, the unit should be placed upright and as high as possible for maximum range. Several mounting brackets and mounting aids are available to ensure proper installation and use of the radar device. The purpose of the SA70 AIS-SART is to generate a secondary alarm when search and rescue units are looking for a life raft/lifeboat in distress.
The SA70 AIS-SART has a built-in GPS to help units pinpoint the position of the lifeboat over a wider area. This is done using the AIS system on the search vessel or helicopter. Once activated, the SA70 AIS-SART sends its position data in a regular AIS message. In addition, the SA70 AIS-SART sends an SMS message every four minutes with the text 'AIS SART'.Thismessage
is received by other AIS systems in range. The SA70 AIS-SART batteries, when activated, will last at least 96 hours.
